Hair products, hairsprays clog your pores

Hello, beautiful people!

While we all know makeup can definitely clog your pores, next time you get ready in think about the hair products you use. Every hair product you use, whether it’s a thin hair oil or a heavy pomade, can seep down to the skin at the hairline, causing acne and irritation.

What you might not realize is that even finishing mists and hairspray, which you think you’re spraying on your hair, can end up on your skin. Today’s hairsprays are ultra aerosolized, meaning they spray in a very fine mist, landing evenly on the area you’re spraying. So instead of getting a lot of product at one area, you end up with an even dusting of hairspray on the desired area.

The problem is that a lot of these aerosolized particles end up flying out past the intended area. And whether we mean it or not, they end up sticking on the face, which clogs pores and causes acne.

Good practices include keeping products 1-2 inches off the hairline and covering your face with a sheet of paper while spraying. While know this sometimes isn’t practical, the more you get in the habit, the more you’ll avoid unwanted #breakouts.
